Solus began over twenty-five years ago after Margaret bought me an acoustic guitar for my birthday.
I spent years playing these songs, singing them myself, and recording pieces of them here and there. While portions of the album were recorded over the years, it was never completed in its entirety.
During a vacation in Cancun in June 2026, I decided to revisit the material with Suno. What emerged was not the acoustic album I originally imagined, but a goth and industrial-inspired version built from the same lyrical foundation.
Some lyrics survived unchanged. Others evolved. A few lines disappeared entirely. The lyrical roots remained, but the music found a new identity.
After twenty-five years, several late nights, and more than a little beer, Solus is finally complete.
At least for now.
